An extended or oblong lighting device having a lamp housing of two component sections which are joined together by means of a head piece, has an insertable head piece (3) manufactured from plastics material which can clip or otherwise engage onto the lamp housing (1). The head piece (3) has fittings (2) mounted in it in a removable manner. The head piece (3) and the lamp housing (1) are constructed so that they can be clamped together. The head piece (3) has a housing type lower section (34) having cutouts sections through which the fittings (2) protrude.
