An enclosed sliding potentiometer, with its current carrying components in accessible and a slit through which the slider operates, has the slider actuator (4) approximately centrally mounted on the sliding component (11) which is located in the upper half of the housing. The housing is separated into an upper chamber (10) which contains the sliding component and is separated by a partition (8). The current carrying components (24, 25, 26, 27) and the support of the slider spring (23) are located in the lower chamber (22). The partition is made with two parallel longitudinal slits (30) symmetrical with respect to the slit (2) in the top surface.
