EXTENDABLE LOOP-BACK TYPE PASSIVE OPTICAL NETWORK AND SCHEDULING METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR THE SAME

An extendable loop-back type PON(Passive Optical Network) and a scheduler and scheduling method for the PON are provided to reduce a maintenance cost and an upgrading cost of a network by integrating advantages of TDM and WDM techniques. An OLT(Optical Line Terminal)(200) includes wavelength-variable optical transmitters(210) and wavelength-fixed optical transmitters(220). An RN(Remote Node)(250) includes optical combining/distributing units(270) that receive an optical signal transmitted from the wavelength-variable optical transmitters(210), distribute the received optical signal according to each wavelength, and transmit it to ONTs(Optical Network Terminals)(290). The ONTs(290) transmit uplink data to the OLT(200) by using the same wavelength as that of the optical signal received from the OLT(200).
