A method for displaying optical disc information in an optical disc device is provided to reduce an error by an optical disc while the optical disc device is used by reading MID information about the optical disc when the optical disc is loaded in the optical disc device, configuring whether to support the corresponding optical disc as an OSD(On Screen Display) picture through the comparison of the read MID information and firmware information in a memory, and providing the configured OSD picture. If a certain optical disc for recording data is loaded after an optical disc device is driven(S200,S202), a microcomputer reads MID information recorded in the certain optical disc(S204,S206). The microcomputer compares the MID information about the certain optical disc with firmware data in the optical disc device(S208). The microcomputer displays the MID information and whether to support the certain optical disc on the basis of the compared result(S210).
