An apparatus and a method for displaying an ultrasound image are provided to reduce a time of forming a 3D ultrasound image by rendering 2D ultrasound images respectively to form the 3D ultrasound image. A method for displaying an ultrasound image includes the steps of: forming a plurality of 2D ultrasound images based on an ultrasound echo signal in real time(S210); selecting a predetermined number of the 2D ultrasound images having consecutive serial numbers among the plurality of 2D ultrasound images(S220); rendering the selected predetermined number of the 2D ultrasound images respectively(S230); storing the rendered 2D ultrasound images(S240); forming a 3D ultrasound image by overlapping the 2D ultrasound images, and displaying a flow direction marker together with the 3D ultrasound image(S250); removing the 2D ultrasound image having a first serial number(S260); selecting the 2D ultrasound image having a serial number adjacent to the last serial number of the stored 2D ultrasound image(S270); and rendering the selected 2D ultrasound image, and storing the rendered 2D ultrasound image(S280).
