An apparatus for driving a light source, a display device having the same, and a method for driving the light source are provided to decrease the amount of driving current in a low brightness mode, thereby reducing power consumption in mobile products using the display device. A controller(430) outputs a first control signal for driving a light source(310) in a normal brightness mode and a second control signal for driving the light source in a low brightness mode. A first driving part(440) drives the light source in the low brightness mode by driving signals generated based on a first voltage in response to the first control signal. A second driving part(450) drives the light source in the normal brightness mode based on a second voltage in response to the second control signal.
