A method and an apparatus for transmitting an ultra wide band signal based on wire single band orthogonal frequency division multiplexing through a CATV broadcasting signal receiving cable are provided to improve transmission efficiency by extending a transmission distance. A method for transmitting an ultra wide band signal based on wire single band orthogonal frequency division multiplexing through a CATV broadcasting signal receiving cable includes the steps of: converting wire/wireless multimedia signals transmitted from wire/wireless multimedia devices into wire ultra wide band signals(S700); generating single band orthogonal frequency division multiplexing signals by converting the converted wire ultra wide band signals(S710); and frequency-spreading the generated single band orthogonal frequency division multiplexing signals according to a transmission ratio(S720), and transmitting the frequency-spread signals to a non-used frequency band of a broadcasting signal receiving cable(S730).
