A system and a method for performing authentication with an OTP(One-Time Password) are provided to authenticate a user by using the OTP generated from time information and user information stored in a smart card. The smart card(210) includes the user information and a user OTP generating process, and generates a user OTP. A user computer(250) includes an authentication applet for authenticating the user. A user terminal(230) enables the user to advance authentication with the smart card by intermediating the user computer and the smart card. A password generating server(130) generates an SP(Service Provider) OTP by executing an SP OTP generating process based on the time information and the user information. An authentication server(110) compares the user OTP with the SP OTP and authenticates the user if both OTPs are identical. The time information is received from a GPS(Global Positioning System) satellite or is web standard time information.
