An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to prevent static electricity at a sectional surface of a channel of a thin film transistor by forming a column spacer on a thin film transistor array substrate. A first substrate(100) and a second substrate(200) face each other. A gate line(101) and a data line cross each other on the first substrate and define a pixel region. A thin film transistor is formed at a crossing of the gate line and the data line. A first column spacer is formed on the thin film transistor, has an upper surface reflecting a surface height difference of the thin film transistor, and contacts the second substrate. A second column spacer(220) is formed on a predetermined portion of the gate line, and is spaced apart from the second substrate at a predetermined interval. A liquid crystal layer(150) is filled into the space between the first substrate and the second substrate. |
