An electrode is provided to improve safety of a battery by inhibiting internal short circuit occurrence caused by internal short circuit weak points and minimize capacity reduction of a battery. In the electrode formed by coating a current collector with an electrode active material, electrode active material-uncoated portions which are not coated with the electrode active material, or boundary portions of electrode active material patterns formed by electrode active material coating are coated with porous active layers containing a mixture of inorganic particles and binder polymer. The porous active layer comprises the inorganic particles linked with and fixed to one another by the binder polymer and has a pore structure formed by the interstitial volume among inorganic particles.
