A signal transceiving device for supporting a variable coding rate in a communication system and a method therefor are provided to generate a plurality of children parity check matrices in accordance with a coding rate based on 1 parent parity check matrix, thereby supporting the variable coding rate as realizing minimum complexity. A coder(611) generates children parity check matrices based on a parent parity check matrix preset according to a coding rate which is to be applied when information vectors are generated as block LDPC(Low Density Parity Check) codes, and codes the information vectors according to the children parity check matrices to generate the vectors as the block LDPC codes. A modulator(613) modulates the block LDPC codes in preset modulation type, and generates the modulated codes into modulation vectors.
