This invention provides a process for producing a composite reverse osmosis membrane in a commercially stable and continuous manner. The composite reverse osmosis membrane produced by this process comprises a polyamide skin layer and a porous support for supporting the polyamide skin layer. The production process is characterized by comprising step A of coating an aqueous solution a containing a compound having two or more reactive amino groups onto a porous support while moving the porous support to form an aqueous solution covering layer, step B of holding the aqueous solution covering layer onto the porous support for 0.2 to 15 sec to penetrate the aqueous solution a into fine pores in the porous support, step C of removing the aqueous solution covering layer while holding the aqueous solution a within the fine pores in the porous support, and step D of, after step C, coating an organic solution b containing a polyfunctional acid halide onto the surface of the porous support and brining the organic solution b into contact with the above aqueous solution a to conduct interfacial polymerization and thus to form a polyamide skin layer, the composite reverse osmosis membrane being continuously produced.
