INTEGRATED RETRIEVAL METHOD OF HETEROGENEOUS MULTIMEDIA DATABASE

A method for integrally retrieving a heterogeneous multimedia database is provided to realize convenience for enabling a user to retrieve the heterogeneous multimedia database with a single type query and enable a developer to easily use the method for integrating various kinds of multimedia databases by applying a mediator-wrapper mode. A web service based multimedia integrated retrieval system comprises an application layer, a mediation layer, and a resource layer. A UMA(Universal Multimedia Access) mediator(12) for the mediation layer and the resource layer is implemented by using a web service. Data is exchanged by using a web service SOAP(Simple Object Application Protocol) API(Application Program Interface) formed in the mediation layer and the resource layer. The resource layer transfers the retrieval to the mediation layer or receives the retrieval result from the mediation layer by calling the web service SOAP API formed in the web service SOAP API.
