The invention relates to a method for producing polynaphthalene derivatives containing repeating units of general formula (Ia) and/or (Ib), in which R1, R2, R1', R2' are defined as cited in the description. The invention also relates to polynaphthalene derivatives that are produced according to said method, to films containing or consisting of at least one inventive polynaphthalene derivative, to organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) containing at least one inventive polynaphthalene derivative, to a light-emitting layer containing or consisting of at least one inventive polynaphthalene derivative, to an OLED containing the inventive light-emitting layer, to devices containing an inventive OLED and to the use of the inventive polynaphthalene derivatives as emitter substances in OLEDs.
