<p>A connector assembly for creating a plastic tube joint in a length of plastic tubing (100) having a distal end (140), a proximal end (130) and a hollow lumen (160) includes forming a flare in the tube proximate the proximal end thereof by means of a flared ferrule (110) disposed in the lumen (160) and defining a void between the flare and the proximal end of the tubing, the void being defined between the ferrule (110) and a collet (115), the tubing (100) contracting into the void, and forming a neck between the ferrule (110) and the collet (115) proximate the ferrule flare (100), the neck substantially permanently capturing the tubing (100) contracted into the void; and substantially permanently bonding the collet (115) to a connector body (120). A connector assembly for simultaneously forming a plastic tube joint in a pair of plastic tubes (100) is further included as is a method for simultaneously forming a plastic tube joint in a pair of plastic tubes (100).</p> |
