PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid jet device capable of securing excellent printing performance by eliminating floating or rising of an absorbent material even if the floating or the rising of the absorbent material in a cap occurs. SOLUTION: The liquid jet device is provided with a recording head 19 for jetting liquid from nozzles 20 on a nozzle forming face 19a, the cap 23 for receiving a waste liquid when the liquid is discharged from the nozzles 20 as the waste liquid in a state of sealing the nozzle forming face 19a of the recording head 19, an absorbing mat 37 for holding the waste liquid while absorbing it in a state of being stored in the cap 23, and a stored-state adjusting mechanism for adjusting a stored state of the absorbing mat 37 by pressing the absorbing mat 37 toward the inner bottom face of the cap 23 while bringing a pressing protrusion part 51 composed separately from the recording head 19 into pressure contact with the surface of the absorbing mat 37.
