PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method capable of adjusting white balance appropriately and easily, and to provide an image processing unit and an imaging apparatus. SOLUTION: The image processing unit 10 controls white balance, based on the image data of an image captured by the imaging apparatus having pixels with a plurality of colors. The image processing unit 10 comprises a luminance calculation section 15 for calculating luminance to each of divided regions, based on the image data; a luminance saturation region determination section 16 for determining a luminance saturation region, where the luminance is saturated in the divided regions, based on the luminance to the image data acquired with the imaging apparatus as a proper exposure value, and the luminance of the image data acquired with the imaging apparatus as an exposure value for luminance saturation region determination; and a CPU 11 for controlling the white balance, based on the image data in the luminance unsaturation region.
