PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press machine where an overload and a light load are detected and a press is stopped as the protection of a die is secured. SOLUTION: A slide is made vertically moved by motor rotation control in accordance with the number of selected position command pulses, an overload prevention apparatus is provided between a crankshaft and the slide, in the case the fact that calculated slide pressurizing force exceeds the excessive side value in a memory set drivable pressurizing force range is judged, a horupu (phonetic) pressure fracture command signal and a press stop command signal can be created and output, and, in the case the fact that calculated slide pressurizing force is less than the lower side in the memory set drivable pressurizing force is judged, a press stop command signal can be created and output.
