PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost oxygen-selective adsorbent that can highly selectively adsorb a large amount of oxygen from an atmosphere containing oxygen and can easily be caused to desorb oxygen and regenerated. SOLUTION: The oxygen-selective adsorbent is prepared by subjecting a strongly acidic cation exchange resin comprising an ion change group containing an alkali metal ion to a carbonization treatment in an oxygen free atmosphere at a temperature of 500 to 900°C.
