PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing method capable of firmly fixing toner particles to a recording medium and a fixing device; more particularly an environment friendly fixing method and fixing device. SOLUTION: The fixing method comprises fixing a toner image formed on the recording medium by using a liquid developer dispersed with the toner particles in an insulating liquid onto the recording medium by a fixing roller, in which the insulating liquid contains an unsaturated fatty acid component. The fixing method is characterized by having an impartation process of imparting an oxidation polymerization accelerator to accelerate an oxidation polymerization reaction of the unsaturated fatty acid component onto a fixing roller and a fixing process of fixing the toner image onto the recording medium by using the fixing roller. In the fixing process, the unsaturated fatty acid component included in the toner image and the oxidation polymerization accelerator imparted onto the fixing roller are brought into contact with each other to cause the oxidation polymerization of the unsaturated fatty acid component.
