PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polymer having a targeted molecular distribution and gel fraction with sufficient accuracy, and to provide an apparatus for producing the same. SOLUTION: The method comprises obtaining a rate of dropwise addition of a solvent depending on a previous experiment concerning a conversion rate and a standard polymerization temperature necessary to control reaction rate for matching an actual reaction rate in polymerization process with a previously determined standard reaction rate corresponding to a polymer to be produced. Actual process of producing a polymer comprises detecting a temperature in a mixing vessel, utilizing the detected result and selecting an optimum dropping rate of a solvent for controlling the reaction rate out of the experimentally obtained data groups, and adding dropwise the solvent into the mixing vessel.
