PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the amount of ink uselessly thrown away and to decrease the amount of generation of ink mist during executing recording with no frame on four sides. SOLUTION: Mask boundary positions are set on the outside by a width W1 in the main scanning direction X from logical both end positions VL and VR to set a mask area MA so that an ink throwing-away area with specified intervals (the width W1 in the main scanning direction X and a length L1 in the sub-scanning direction Y) is formed on the outside of both end positions (the logical both end positions) VL and VR in the main scanning direction X of the recording paper P specified from the central position XC and a size of the recording paper P specified when a user operates execution of recording.
