PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing tars, and a die with which the tars stuck to the inner peripheral surface of a gas exhausting passage for exhausting a core gas developed from a collapsible core to the outer part can easily be removed. SOLUTION: In the method for removing the tars which removes the tars (stuck material 45) stuck on the inner peripheral surface of the gas exhausting hole 12a for exhausting the core gas developed from a sand core 3 disposed in the inner part of the die 2 to the outer part of the die 2, wings 16, 16, 16, 16 are provided on the outer peripheral surface of a molten metal invading preventive pin 15 inserted in the gas exhausting hole 12a while forming a prescribed gap with the inner peripheral surface of the gas exhausting hole 12a, and the molten metal invading-preventive pin 15 is rotated.
