A method for driving an electrophoretic display panel is provided to lower the voltage levels of driving voltage to be applied for the benefit of cell driving, thereby improving the response speed of a cell switching element. A voltage is applied to common electrodes formed within respective cells of an electrophoretic display panel, wherein the applied voltage has a voltage level lower than a reference voltage by a voltage level of VI. Scan pulse voltages are sequentially applied to scan electrodes to turn on cell switching elements respectively connected to the scan electrodes. When the cell switching elements are turned on, data voltages are applied to data electrodes connected to cells through the cell switching elements to drive the cells. The data voltages have a voltage level obtained by subtracting the voltage level of Vl from the reference voltage. |
