<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst layer for solid polymer fuel cell having high content of platinum, without lowering utilization rate of platinum fine particles by preventing coagulation thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst layer for solid polymer fuel cell has: a catalyst carrying catalytic fine particles 11 composed of platinum or compound containing platinum generated by deoxidizing platinum oxide or composite oxide containing platinum and platinum group element excluding platinum; and carrier fine particles 12 composed of at least one or more kinds of metal element selected from a group composed of transition metal of 4th to 6th period, Si, Al, La, Ce, or metallic compound thereof. The platinum group element is one kind of element selected from a group composed of Ru, Rh, Ir, Os, and Pd.
