<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To specify and utilize Grh2 which is a gene for controlling the insect resistance of a plant. <P>SOLUTION: A Grh2 candidate gene for controlling the insect resistance of a plant is specified by a complementation test using a sub-clone in a candidate genome region on the basis of a genome sequence of BAC clone originated from Kasalath which is considered to hold Grh2. According to the present invention, Grh2a gene and Grh2b gene are provided. Also, according to the present invention, an improving method to an insect-resistant plant kind is provided.
