PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce vibration and noise at motor driving by reducing a torque ripple, and to achieve a high output of an SR motor by improving average torque. SOLUTION: The SR motor 10 comprises: a stator 1 having stator salient poles 4 that extend inward; a rotor 2 having rotor salient poles 7 that are rotatably arranged in the stator 1 and extend outward; and excitation coils 11 that are wound to the stator salient poles 4. A side face 13ar located at the rear side of the rotative direction of the rotor salient pole 7 is made to hang over toward the rear side of the rotative direction of a rotor in a state that a side face 13af at the front side of the rotative direction of the rotor salient pole 7 and a side face 12af at the front side of the rotative direction of the stator salient pole 4 are arranged on the same plane, and the circumferential length of the external peripheral tip face 9 of the rotor salient pole 7 is set longer than the circumferential length of the internal peripheral tip face 8 of the stator salient pole 4.
