PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object detection device capable of detecting accurately the object position. SOLUTION: This object detection device 10 is equipped with a sonar 50 for emitting an ultrasonic wave and detecting the distance to the object from the reflection state of the ultrasonic wave, and is used for detecting the position or the contour of the object by detecting the distance to the object repeatedly, while moving the sonar 50. The object detection device 10 is also equipped with a moving distance detection part 41 for detecting the moving distance of the sonar 50, and a continuity determination part 42 for determining continuity of a detection result by determining whether the distance between each detection result determined from the moving distance of the sonar 50 and a variation of the detected distance is within a continuity determination reference value set corresponding to the moving distance of the sonar 50. The continuity determination part 42 changes the continuity determination reference value into a larger value, when the moving distance of the sonar 50 from start of detection of the distance to the object exceeds a prescribed distance set beforehand.
