PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoplastic composite material and an optical element capable of extremely minimizing changes in a refractive index due to temperature and a method for producing such thermoplastic composite material. SOLUTION: The transparent thermoplastic composite material is produced by dispersing particulates having a mean particle diameter of 1 nm or more and 50 nm or less in a thermoplastic resin comprising an organic polymer, wherein the particulate is an amorphous inorganic fine particle containing aluminium.
