PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily crushing a lumpy material of hydrogel to granules. SOLUTION: This lumpy material of the hydrogel is produced by irradiating a radiation to a paste-state material obtained by mixing carboxymethylcellulose with water. The lumpy material of the hydrogel is preliminary chopped as a smaller size than the width of a spiral groove formed on a screw 3, and the obtained chopped hydrogel fragments 10 are extruded by putting them in an extruder 1.
