PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cowl louver which can increase an amount of absorption of an external impact force without reducing an ability of cutting off hot air from an engine room. SOLUTION: The cowl louver 1 is composed of a panel-shaped body 10 formed in a vehicle width direction, and a recessed body 20 extending from the front edge of the body 10, which recessed body 20 has a recessed space 20a opening upward in the vehicle width direction. The cowl louver 1 is mounted between a windshield 40 and a hood panel 44. Both sides of the recessed space 20a in the vehicle width direction are covered with shutters 30, 30, which are formed as separate components to the recessed body 20. The shutters 30, 30 are so mounted as to drop from the recessed body 20 upon receiving a force of a given magnitude or larger that acts downward from the hood panel 44. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
