<p>An optical system is disclosed, comprising a laser path, target illumination (11,21) and a camera path, wherein a beam splitter (3) introducing astigmatism is included in the laser path and camera path and further comprising a compensating optical element (10) mounted between the beam splitter (3) and a camera (7) or optical output, wherein the further element is tilted orthogonally relative to the beam splitter to compensate for said astigmatism.
