PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance operability when a single remote control apparatus selectively controls a plurality of apparatuses to be controlled. SOLUTION: The remote control apparatus is shared with the apparatuses to be controlled. Each of the apparatus to be controlled transmits a wireless signal including apparatus identification information uniquely identifying itself. The remote control apparatus 10 receiving the wireless signal transmitted from an apparatus to be controlled existing in a direction wherein the remote control apparatus 10 is directed by a user recognizes what the apparatus to be controlled is. The remote control apparatus 10 on the basis of a result of the recognition obtains apparatus control information corresponding to the apparatus identification information from a storage section, generates an apparatus control instruction on the basis of the apparatus control information, and transmits the instruction to the apparatus to be controlled. When no apparatus control information corresponding to the apparatus identification information exists in the storage section, the remote control apparatus 10 requests an external server and acquires the apparatus control information corresponding to the apparatus identification information.
