<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the circuit protection of a light-emitting device operable of being driven by an AC voltage, and to improve the stability of luminance. <P>SOLUTION: A light-emitting element group 10 includes a plurality of light-emitting element units DU connected in series. A first current limit circuit 20 is provided in series to the light-emitting element group 10 and limits a first driving current Idrv1 flowing from one end of the light-emitting element group 10 to the other end. A second current limit circuit 30 is provided in parallel to the first current limit circuit 20 and limits a second driving current Idrv2 flowing in a direction opposite to the first driving current Idrv1 to the light-emitting element group 10.
