<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain significant reduction in the total compression time. <P>SOLUTION: Before en encoder 503 performs coding of image data, the image data are pre-coded in the specific region of a memory 502 and a CPU 501 predicts the amount of code data in coding the image data. When it is decided that the predicted amount of code data will be accommodated inside the continuous empty areas of the memory 502, coding processing will be applied to the image data. Data, after the coding, are then written in the continuous empty areas of the memory 502; and when it is decided that the predicted amount of code data will not be accommodated inside the empty areas, processing for making empty regions secured in the memory 502 is performed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
