<p>1530132 Mounting batteries on bicycles LUCAS INDUSTRIES Ltd 2 Jan 1976 [21 Jan 1975 7 Feb 1975] 2634/75 and 5262/75 Heading H1B [Also in Division B7] An electrically assisted bicycle has a battery 31 in a support 19 comprising a releasable re. taming strap 33 and a box-like member 32 incorporated into the frame 11 of the bicycle. As illustrated, the strap 33 has one end pivoted to the box-like member 32 and another end secured to the box-like member 32 by a screw 34. The top surface of the box-like member 32 carries a control panel 37 provided with a switch for the bicycle's lights 38. The box-like member 32 supports a battery charger and auxiliary battery cells for supplying the lights 38. The battery 31 supplies the electric drive motor of a motor unit 22. A key-operated mechanism 39 supported by the box-like member 32 operates a latch member 42, preventing removal of the battery 31. The mechanism 39 further operates a bolt 44 for locking the steering of the bicycle, and operates an electric switch (46), Fig. 3 (not shown), isolating the battery 31.</p> |
