PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera in which a time lag up to photography accompanied by the off-processing of a monitor can be shortened. SOLUTION: The electronic camera 10 comprises a monitor 15 which can display an image by receiving power supply, a shutter button 16 for starting image pick-up processing, and a control section 11 for starting the off-processing of power supply to the monitor 15 when the shutter button 16 is depressed while an image is displayed on the monitor 15, and starting image pick-up processing before the residual voltage of the monitor 15 drops below a predetermined level.
