PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device which has a simple structure and can make an efficient use of light and can be applied not only for a display but also for an optical communication, and to provide an electronic device using the above unit. SOLUTION: The light emitting unit is composed of a light emitting layer 30 which can emit light by an electroluminescence, a pair of electrodes 20, 40 to impress an electric field on the above light emitting layer 30 and a base plate 10 having a recess part 90 on the surface.
