PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and an image processing method for not wastefully consuming a view time of each of a plurality of viewers even when a video signal stored in the image processing apparatus is reproduced and viewed by the viewers. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus 1 wherein the images recorded in advance on the recording medium are reproduced and the viewers view parts or all of the images, includes: a storage area control section 4 that stores designation marks designated by the viewers at view positions of the images viewed by the viewers to storage areas of the recording medium; a mark reproduction section 6 for reproducing the designation marks stored in the storage areas; and a view control section 7 that allows the viewer for storing the final designation mark to the storage area and the other viewers to view the image corresponding to the final designation mark among the designation marks reproduced by the mark reproduction section 6 and arranged on a time axis.
