PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program recommending apparatus capable of recommending programs by using electronic program guide information. SOLUTION: A program information recording section 103 records program information of programs recorded with a program recording apparatus 107 by a user in the past, and a program information acquisition section 101 acquires program information from a broadcast wave. A people name recording section 102 records people name information under the classification of categories in advance. A recommended program determining section 104 determines recommended programs on the basis of the program information recorded in the program information recording section 103 and associated with the programs recorded in the past, the people name information recorded in the people name recording section 102, and the program information acquired by the program information acquisition section 101.
