PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for displaying or outputting originals, arranged in the order on the basis of recognition of page numbers or the association of characters in the originals, even if plural originals are not in order. SOLUTION: An original read section 101 of the image forming apparatus 100 reads a plurality of originals placed, for example, by a user on an ADF (automatic document feeder, not shown), transmits original image data to an image storage section 102, and the image storage section 102 transmits the original image data transmitted from the original read section 10, to an image analysis section 103 and a finish image generating section 105. The image analysis section 103 analyzes the connection of characters and the presence/absence of page numbers, on the basis of the original image data transmitted from the image storage section 102 and extracts the original characteristic values of the originals and transmits the values to the finished image generating section 105.
