PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vacuum cleaner which can ensure a precision of input control of an electric air blower by reducing the influence of noises on the detected current value of a commutator motor as much as possible. SOLUTION: A control section 18 is provided with a load current uptaking section 42 for sampling the output value of a commutator 27 and uptaking it as a load current value In, and a timing determining section 45 for determining the output timing ta of a control signal output to a bidirectional thyristor 22 in accordance with the load current value In which the load current uptaking section 42 took up and a preset threshold between from the output timing of the control signal output to the thyristor 22 and a zero cross point during a half cycle of an AC voltage applied to the commutator motor 24.
