A hearing protection device comprising a shell to be worn at least partially within a user's ear canal is provided. The shell is provided with a receptacle having an outer opening towards ambience and an inner opening towards said ear canal. An acoustic filter element for attenuating sound comprising open-pore porous material is engaged within the receptacle in a detachable manner.
