A computer implementing method for managing application log configuration settings, and a program product and a data processing system thereof are provided to trace a single user or process, or the user or the process using a restricted detail set by managing the application log configuration settings. The data processing system includes a storage device storing computer-usable program codes and a processor. The processor receives user input, generates a tracer key(444) based on the user input, transmits the tracer key to more than one application, transmits the information traced in response to the information related to the traced tracer key to a reception application, and stores the traced information by executing the program codes. The reception application is an email application. The applications are included in more than one remote data processing system.
