<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a palladium-containing catalyst to be used as the catalyst for producing α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid from an olefin or α,β-unsaturated aldehyde with high selectivity or high productivity, a method for manufacturing the palladium-containing catalyst and a method for producing α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid from the olefin or α,β-unsaturated aldehyde with high selectivity or high productivity. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the palladium-containing catalyst containing 0.001-0.40 moles tellurium atom on the basis of 1.0 mole palladium atom comprises the steps of: deoxidizing a palladium raw material containing an oxidized palladium atom by a reducing agent; and adding a tellurium raw material containing a tellurium atom to the deoxidized palladium raw material. The olefin or α,β-unsaturated aldehyde is oxidized in a liquid phase by molecular oxygen by using the obtained palladium-containing catalyst to produce α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
