PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve gear capable of securing smooth movement of a control shaft while preventing leak of lubricating oil supplied to a part between a rocker shaft and a control shaft. SOLUTION: The variable valve gear 30 is provided with a cylindrical rocker shaft 31 and a control shaft 32 provided in the rocker shaft 31 under a condition where the same can move in an axial direction, and a variable valve lift mechanism 40 provided on the rocker shaft 31. The part between the rocker shaft 31 and the control shaft 32 is supplied with lubricating oil and is lubricated. A discharge valve is installed on the rocker shaft 31 and lubricating oil between the rocker shaft 31 and the control shaft 32 is discharged outside under a predetermined condition.
