PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a locking state of reclining mechanism from being released without being operated when abnormal operational force which impactly urges a seat back in a forward laying direction. SOLUTION: A seat reclining device which switches the locking and unlocking of the reclining mechanism 10 in accordance with an operation state of a lock release lever 20 arranged in a seat back 2. The lock release lever 20 is arranged in a shoulder position of the seat back 2 and the reclining mechanism 10 is switched to keep unlocked by forward laying turning operation. A lock mechanism 30 wnich restricts the forward laying turning of the lock release lever 20 by engaging with and locking a member on the seat back side 2 and a depressing button 34 which switches the lock mechanism 30 to keep unlocked by pushing-in operation in the lock release lever 20 are provided in the lock release lever 20.
