PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile phone for executing a series of processes by operating a plurality of operation sections depending on an operating mode and enhancing the operability. SOLUTION: The mobile phone has a plurality of operating modes such as a speech mode and a mail mode. A different operating function from each operating mode is assigned to each of a plurality of operating buttons of an operating button group provided to the mobile phone. When a lock switch is set to a lock position and thereafter the mail mode is executed, even if on-hook button is depressed in mistake during an entry operation of a message or the like, since the operation of the on-hook button is set to a holding state, the mail mode is not terminated. Further, when the lock switch is set to an unlock position and the mail mode is started, if the on-hook button is operated in mistake under the mail mode, the mail mode during the active state is terminated.
