PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smelting-reduction method with which the used quantity of inexpensive ore can be increased by increasing the total calorific power in a furnace without promoting the erosion of refractory. SOLUTION: In addition to a top-blown lance for supplying oxidizing gas set in the axial line of a molten iron type smelting-reduction furnace, an ore-charging lance for charging powdery and granular ore into the molten iron type smelting-reduction furnace, is set and an injecting hole for ore is arranged at the tip end part of the ore-charging lance and also, a burner composed of injecting hole for injecting fuel and oxygen, is arranged, and the ore is charged into the molten iron type smelting-reduction furnace so as to pass the ore through the flame generated from this burner.
