<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication device for performing highly precise authentication even in an environment affected by the illumination of oblique rays of light or shadows. <P>SOLUTION: This face authentication device is provided with a pre-processing part 202 for acquiring a normalization image for an input image; a registration feature storage part 203 for storing features extracted from a registered image; a feature selecting part 204 for extracting features from the normalization image and the registration features; and a similarity calculating part 205 for calculating the similarity of the input features and the registration features, wherein an illumination slope value is calculated for every block from the normalization image, and a filter for extracting features is selected based on the illumination slope value, and features are extracted by the feature selecting part. Thus, it is possible to obtain such effects that it is possible to perform highly precise authentication even in an environment affected by illumination by performing collation by using only features which are hardly affected by illumination. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
